Microsoft has rolled out Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21332 (RS_PRERELEASE) to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. The latest build brings in significant improvements to the news and interests. The updated News and interests flyout experience will display two columns of content, which enables you to quickly glance through the relevant feeds such as weather, headlines, money, and more. The content will open via hover or click. However, the product team is working on introducing an option to open via click in an upcoming update. The new update has been released after careful consideration of user feedback via various channels including Feedback Hub.
Additionally, Microsoft is resetting the rollout of News and interests to Windows Insiders in the dev channel. Hence, the News and interests that were previously made available to Windows Insiders could vanish but will again appear in the subsequent updates. The gradual rollout of the News and interests will enable the product team to identify issues that could impact performance, stability, and reliability.
After the installation of the Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21332, you will be able to paste as plain text from clipboard history (WIN+V). This feature was previously made available only to small subset of Insiders but it’s being pushed widely. Moreover, theme-aware splash screens have been reactivated for all Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. This feature was removed after the rollout due to performance issues. The 3D Viewer and Paint 3D will not be preinstalled on clean installs of the latest Windows 10 Insider Preview builds. However, the apps will be available in the Microsoft Store and will remain on your device after an OS update.
The Math Input Panel is removed due to low usage. However, the input control and math recognition engine based Math recognizer can be installed via Settings | Apps | Apps & features and selecting Optional features. The features that are used for math equation input in OneNote, Excel, and others will continue to work. As a developer, you can continue to make use of the input control.
The Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21332 has issued an issue where Surface Pro X devices would bugcheck when resuming from sleep. The update has resolved an issue where device was experiencing hangs when Xbox controller was connected while shutting down or restarting. The hang issue was also reported while the system enters sleep mode. The latest build has resolved an issue related to the disappearance of the About page in the previous build iterations. If the OS Info link on the Windows Update settings dashboard did not work as per expectations, then the issue has been resolved. The absence of Settings search results that have been missing in recent builds has been resolved. If Settings crashes when you navigate to Settings | System | Power & Sleep, then the issue has been resolved.
