It’s not unusual that we come across spam messages in everyday life… from companies and sources we really don’t want to hear from. Robotexts and spam missives are everywhere! Be it mailboxes, messages inbox or any social media platforms.

Think of a day when you hear the sound of an approaching text message and enthusiastically check your phone, figuring the message may be from a relative, colleague, or a friend. But, no, this one is a robotexts, a spam message sent to you by a spammer attempting to con you by indulging you into tapping a malicious link, calling a number, or accomplishing something different that is probably going to raise you ruckus. This spam message is rarely intended for a benign purpose.

If you’re using any digital modes of communication, these incoming robotexts and spam messages are unavoidable. But you can surely find tips and tricks to deal with them.

On a smaller scale, you can simply overlook them. However, you have to be careful enough to the extent when the malicious incoming data may possibly trigger malware to your device. Additionally, if you’ve at any point reacted to a spam message; even, by the way, your phone number was likely labeled as valid and may have been dispersed to different tricksters, expanding your chances of getting more junk messages. They can always switch their number and get back to your device again. So even if you block the number of robotexts or spammers, chances are you can get messages from a similar spammer from a different number.

How to block a number on iPhone?

On an iPhone, head on to the messaging app > Then tap the phone number at the top of the screen and afterward > tap the Info button. A Details screen will appear. Now tap the phone number > then select the option to “Block this Caller”.

How to block a number on Android?

On an Android phone, head on to the junk message and click the three-dot icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Based on our device’s OS version, you will either be shown the option to Block number, or select Details and afterward tap to Block and report spam. Choose what your OS version allows you to do so.

There you go! You have efficiently blocked and reported the spammer. Now as you can see above image; if spammer tries to send you another message, it will automatically go to “Spam & Blocked” folder. You can revisit Setting app on your Android phone and then “Spam & Blocked” folder to see and manage your blocked calls and messages.

Filter out spammers

Some of the Android phones offer a feature to identify and filter out potential spam messages from the Messages app. Tap the three-dot icon in the upper right of the Messages app, select Settings > Spam protection, and turn on the Enable spam protection switch. In this way, your Android phone will act as guard and will now warn you beforehand if an incoming message seems to be spam.
