1. What are the basic system requirements of Windows 11?

To install and work with Windows 11, you need a system with 1GHz or more 64-bit dual-core processor. The system should carry 4GB RAM with 64GB or more storage space. Moreover, the system should provide support for UEFI with Secure Boot capability.

The important point to note is that the processor should include Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0 without which Windows 11 can’t be installed. If your PC, laptop, or convertible does not meet these system requirements then you will not be able to install Windows 11. As of this writing, only Intel 8th Generation Core processors and above are compatible with Windows 11. However, Microsoft revealed that they are considering adding support to Intel Core 7th Generation to gather feedback regarding performance and stability from Windows Insiders. You can also make use of the PC Health Check app to verify the compatibility of your device. However, the app has been taken down by Microsoft.

2. What will happen if I don’t have a device with Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version?

As of this writing, only systems with Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0 will be able to run windows 11. The module is integrated into the processor and is available with Intel Core 8th Generation and above. Microsoft recently revealed in a blog post that they are planning to provide support for Windows 11 with Intel Core 7th Generation PCs. We have to wait and watch until Microsoft comes up with any concrete steps. If you are currently using Intel 8th Gen PC, then you are good to go.

3. Can I buy Windows 11 from any shop?

Microsoft is yet to release retail versions of Windows 11. Currently, Windows 11 is available to Windows Insiders on the Dev Channel. You will be able to download Windows 11 directly if you have a compatible device as per the minimum system requirements mentioned in FAQ 1.

4. Will Cortana be available in Windows 11?

Microsoft has discontinued Cortana in Windows 11.

5. Does Windows 11 include Internet Explorer?

No. Microsoft has disabled Internet Explorer in Windows 11. Microsoft Edge is the recommended browser and comes with IE Mode. However, you can also install Google Chrome and other web browsers as an alternative.

6. What is the News & interests module included with Windows 11?

Windows 11 comes with News and interests module and can be located by clicking the Widgets icon on the Taskbar. 7. Is it possible to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11?

Yes. You can upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11. If you have an eligible device and part of Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel, then you are eligible to receive the upgrade right now.

8. When will manufacturers release Windows 11 powered devices?

It will take time for the manufacturers to release Windows 11 laptops. Generally, Microsoft will throw in OEM version of Windows 11 after the product team refines Windows 11 with bug fixes and improvements. You can expect Windows 11 laptops by the end of 2021.

9. When can I expect Windows 11 books?

Generally, authors will be reluctant to write books now because Windows 11 is in the preview stage. However, publishers could request Authors to start writing now itself so that they can update when Microsoft releases full version of Windows 11. You should note that there are plenty of content available in the form of articles, tutorials, and videos on the web. Hence, paperback books are mostly outdated with the emergence of online world.

10. What about the learning curve of Windows 11?

If you know Windows 10, then it’s easy to learn Windows 11. Microsoft has only changed the appearance of the desktop. It’s just that you have to learn the new user interface and its modules. If you work with a Windows 11 PC or laptop for two days, you will find comfortable.

11. Which processors and motherboards are compatible with Windows 11?
