Microsoft has started to roll out the first set of updates for several apps that are included as part of Windows 11. The updates will be initially available to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. The company has released updated Snipping, Calculator apps with new features and capabilities.
The classic Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch apps have been replaced by a new Snipping app, which is integrated with next-generation features for screen capture for Windows. The Snipping tool for Windows 11 includes new visuals and added functionality like the WIN+SHIFT+S keyboard shortcut borrowed from Snip & Sketch. Microsoft also introduced a new Settings page for Snipping tool.
You can capture screenshot just by using the WIN+SHIFT+S keyboard shortcut. You will view the Snipping menu with options such as Rectangular Snip, Freeform Snip, Windows Snip, and Fullscreen Snip. The Snipping Tool displays editing tools for annotations, improved cropping, and additional editing options for the captured screenshots.
The Snipping Tool has been updated to sync with the dark mode. If you are working with the Dark mode, then Snipping tool will appear in dark mode. You will receive a notification pop-up after capturing a screenshot if you have notifications turned off or Focus Assist has been activated. However, the captured screenshot will be copied to your clipboard.

Microsoft also upgraded the Calculator app with a beautiful user interface. The app theme setting enables users to configure the relevant theme for the app bypassing the Global Windows 11 theme. The new Calculator app has been completely developed in C# and the source code made available on GitHub.
The Calculator app is designed to complete your math homework, finance management, evaluate algebra, trigonometry, complex math expression including the ability to analyze equations on a graph. Microsoft has developed simple and easy to use standard calculator for all the basic operations and a powerful scientific calculator for complex math operations.
The Programmer Mode provides all the useful functions for programming and engineering. You can plot multiple equations in Graphing mode and then analyze the graph to identify key graph features like the x- and y-intercepts. You can perform currency conversions between more than 100 different units and currencies.
Microsoft also updated Mail and Calendar apps with a new visual style. The apps have been updated with rounded corners and other adjustments in such a way that it looks part of Windows 11. The Mail and Calendar reflect your Windows theme as well. The Redmond-based software giant is working to add more updates to the apps.
