Like in the case of Windows 10, Windows 11 Insider Preview Builds are available in both Dev Channel and the Beta Channel. Even though it’s up to the user to decide the best suitable channel, Microsoft does provide recommendations from time to time with their Channel choice. Microsoft recently iformed Windows Insiders to migrate to Beta Channel from the Dev Channel. This is because the Redmond-based software giant will flight early development builds in the Dev Channel, which will be less stable. Moreover, the builds won’t align with the version of Windows 11 expected to be made available to the general public by the end of 2021. You should migrate to the Beta Channel if you would like to migrate to more reliable Windows 11 Insider Preview Builds. In this article, we will examine the steps required to migrate from the Dev Channel to Beta Channel.
Step 1
The first step is to navigate to Windows Update settings via Search. You will view Windows Update dashboard.
Step 2
The next step is to select Windows Insider program option from the dashboard.
Step 3
The third step is to select the Down arrow from the “Choose your Insider settings” row. You can locate the arrow on the right-hand side. You will be able to view the arrow if you are currently in Dev Channel.
Step 4
You will view three options upon selecting the Down arrow as shown below
If you view Dev Channel option checked, then it means that you are currently associated with the Dev channel. If you would like to migrate to Beta channel, then you should select the relevant radio button. You will be able to view Beta near the down arrow on the right-hand side.
You can return to the Windows Update dashboard upon selecting the arrow again. That’s it, you have changed from Dev to Beta Channel successfully.
