Microsoft has launched refreshed Photos app for Windows 11 to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel with new features and functionalities. Microsoft has pushed the update to all Insiders and hence if you are part of the Dev Channel, then you will receive the update. According to Microsoft, the purpose of the redesigned Photos app is to create a faster, easier, enjoyable photos editing experience on Windows 11.
The Photos app has been redesigned in such a way that it aligns with the new visual design of Windows 11. This includes rounded corners and Mica material across the app. The new visual design also includes updated Typography styling and new theme specific color palettes.

With the help of the new Photos app, you will be able to view gorgeous edge to edge views of your photos including all the tools required to do basic photo editing tasks via the updated toolbar. A new filmstrip has been added to the bottom of the photo viewer, which displays all the items from a specific location. Moreover, it enables you to quickly jump around your photos directly from within the viewer.
Microsoft also introduced a new multi-view experience, which enable users to compare photos in the same window. This is activated by selecting multiple items from the film strip located at the bottom of the photo viewer. You can dismiss the photo editing toolbar and filmstrip by clicking on photo viewer to enjoy photos in full glory. You can then browse left and right without any distraction. If you click the screen again, the photo editing toolbar and filmstrip will reappear.
The updated photo editing toolbar can be used to manage photos such as crop, rotate, touch-up including viewing of metadata. You can even draw on your photos with your mouse or a stylus on supported devices. The toolbar also provides quick access to third party photo editors installed on your PC. You can open the relevant third-party app from within the Photos app for management of images and photos.
The company hopes that the redesigned Photos app will provide an intuitive photo viewing and editing experience on Windows 11. We expect the Redmond-based software giant to release the new Photos app along with full-blown Windows 11 on October 5.
I am taking my blog to the next level with Blogchatter’s My Friend Alexa.
This is pretty informative, thanks for upgrading my knowledge buddy.
Very comprehensive and detailed. I am going to try this as I am keen to move to laptop for all editing.
This photo app looks promising. Let’s see how it comes out to be. I like the round edges to photos and comparing images on the same page feature.
