Hoote Review: Awesome Next Generation Voice Social Platform

Hoote

We live in a social media world. Nowadays, people have forgotten to read newspapers in the morning because they are busy with tapping in their mobiles for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram apps including Hoote app. We have been seeing Twitter app gets updates every second with new hashtags, tweets and much more. Whenever a political development happens, there will be new hashtags related to that event. In the same way, Facebook also gained great important and traction among people. The new generation boys and girls make use of Instagram to spread their positive vibes. In addition to all these social media platforms, there are new entrants like TikTok, Koo and others. It is to be noted that most of the premium social media platforms are text oriented. This means, you have to read the content along with companion image or video. In this context, the launch of Hoote app assumes great importance. This is because Hoote is an audio-based platform where you can record one minute conversation along with text, image and relevant hashtags. We have been working with Hoote ever since its official launch. In this review, we will examine the features and usage of the Hoote app in detail.

Installation

The Hoote app can be installed easily via Google Play Store. You just need to search for Hoote app on the Play store app and proceed with the installation just like any other app. The developers even pushed an update after the initial release. The Hoote app gained popularity because the founder is Soundarya Rajnikanth, who is the daughter of the superstar Rajnikanth.

Let’s Get Started

To work with Hoote app, you should tap on Hoote icon from your smartphone. You will be prompted to register if you access the app for the first time. You will be prompted to provide name, mobile number and other related information. The app will automatically approve the OTP and you will be able to work with the app immediately. The initial dashboard will be empty and will be filled with content after you follow hooters. The dashboard will look like as shown below

Hoote Dashboard

The Hoote enables you to record one minute audio with relevant content, images and hashtags. You can’t post content without audio and hence you should record first. To record your Hoote, you should tap on the white microphone icon placed inside the circle.

Hoote Recording

If you select the microphone icon, the Hoote app will display options. You can either record audio from within the app or can upload audio file.

Hoote Recording Starts

If you select Record audio option, you will view a new page with microphone icon with Tap to start option.

Tap to start

The page prompts you to record the ideas you have in your mind in 60 seconds. If you select Tap to start icon, you will view the timer followed by waves. You can stop the recording by tapping on the option titled Tap to stop.

Tap to Stop

The Hoote app will display the recording and you can listen by selecting the Play button.

Hoote Play

If you select Next button, you will be able to provide the relevant Text content within 120 words including the ability to add image and music. You can disable comments by dragging the slider.

Hoote Compose

The final step is to press the HOOTE button and your hoote will be published. The app displays a sound upon successful posting of the hoote. You will not able to edit the Hoote after publication. However, you can share and delete a hoote by clicking on the three vertical dots on the to right side of the every hoote.

Hoote app sharing

You can also share profile to others via various social media platforms. The Hoote platform also provides a capability to report Hootes published by other users. You will view this option if you select on the same vertical dots of other users.

Like in the case of Twitter, the Hoote also includes like button, rehoot button and comments option. You will view the notification when another user posts a comment on your Hoote. You can also view statistic of each Hoote below the play button.

Even though direct messages and private groups options are mentioned on the Hoote app, they are not enabled right now. We expect the company to push these features in the upcoming updates. The Search facility is also available from where you can browse popular hootes.

The Hoote app should provide an ability to edit content. Moreover, there should be a facility to view and hear the Hoote without downloading the app via a web-based portal so that those users who are not willing to install the app will be able to access the content.

What’s the bottom line?

The Hoote app is a new-generation app with importance to Audio and is available for free on Google Play Store. You can easily record audio and add content with hashtags. However, the app is currently in its infancy stage and hence our hootes are not getting any likes and rehoots like Twitter. The founders only promote hootes published by film celebrities and politicians. The welcome hootes published by film actors immediately gets attention. We didn’t receive any likes and rehoots from other members ever since two weeks of out joining. We randomly publish content once in two days. The company also removed the verification system, which was initially made available. The founders should work hard to motivate general public to make use of the Hoote app. This is because the app provides great capabilities and functions. If the Hoote app continues like then we don’t think they will be able to survive in the competing social media segment. We expect the Hoote app to grow faster if the app gets adequate attention from both national and International community.
