Installation
To work with FilmForth, you just need to search and download the video editor tool from the official Microsoft Store. You will view Store app on the Taskbar if you work with Windows 10 or Windows 11. You have to input “filmforth” on the top search bar and you can then proceed to install the video editor. You can then open the app directly from the Store by selecting Open button. The app didn’t get added to the desktop icons and hence we searched and pinned it on the Taskbar for easy opening. The whole installation process takes only less than five minutes to complete.
Working
To work with FilmForth, you should click on the icon from the Taskbar if you had pinned the app. You can also click on the Search icon and locate the app by entering FilmForth. The dashboard looks like as shown below
The first step is to select the project resolution by selecting New Project dropdown. For example, if you are planning to create a project for Instagram, then you should select Instagram option with 1:1 or 4:5 aspect ratio respectively. You should select 16:9 aspect ratio for YouTube videos. You can select 9:16 for YouTube shorts.
We selected TikTok/IGTV option with 9:16 aspect ratio for the purpose of this review. You will view a new dashboard as shown below from where you can add video and photo clips to the project.
If you select the UP arrow located on the right side of the Add Video/Photo Clips, you will view three options as shown below. You can also directly select the button and add media files.

You have to select the relevant images or videos after selecting Add button from the bottom panel. You will view various options as shown below. You can add GIFs and stickers to existing images easily.
You can either add photo or video clips depending upon your requirements. We added images for the purpose of this review. As soon as you add the image, the dashboard will change as shown below with several options using which you can perform numerous video editing works. You can continue to add images by selecting Add button.
We added two more images and performed few edits using the modules available on the bottom portion. The entire process was smoothly completed and there were no lags. FilmForth comes with several effects, which you can add to the images.
You can also crop the image easily including the ability to add motion effects.
The main highlight of FilmForth is that you can rotate the specific image by selecting Transform option. You can drag the slider to rotate the image at a specific angle.
The flip option enables users to flip the image to a specific direction. You can also duplicate and delete the images. It’s also possible to adjust the duration of the animation up to a maximum of 10 seconds.
To export the video after being satisfied with the parameters, you need to select Save Video button located on the right side of the dashboard. You can save the video in 480P, 720P, 1080P, 1440P, and 4K formats. FilmForth is the only completely free video editing tool, which offers the ability to save the video in FHD (1080P) format.
You have to pick a destination location and FilmForth will now export the video. The time required to export the video will depend upon the length of the content. The following screen will be displayed during the export process.
We noticed that the timeline stops when the video reaches its end but will not shift back to the start when we clicked the play button again. We had to drag the timeline to the start position, which may not be ideal for longer videos.
To add music to the video clip, you should click on the arrow on the left side. The options will change as shown below. If you select Edit option, you will view the previous options.
The company has incorporated several effects, which are not available even in paid tools. The audio can be added by selecting Audio option. The options will now change and Add audio will appear on the screen. You can add either external audio files, built-in music, and voiceovers.
The interesting point to note is that you can record voiceovers from within the FilmForth dashboard. The tool provides plenty of audio files, which you can select after hearing a preview. The catch is that you have to add the relevant license credit by selecting the License button placed against the respective audio file. You can also add special sound effects. If you add your own audio tracks, then make sure that they are stock file to avoid copyright issues on YouTube. The problem with the default music tracks is that each audio spans over 2 minutes, while few crank up to 5 minutes. This will not be suitable for smaller videos and hence you have to use stock music files. However, you can make use of sound effects that are smaller in size.
The beauty of FilmForth is that you can directly share the video to YouTube by providing the required information. You will be prompted to sign in to YouTube and provide the required permissions. The tool will start the uploading process after you complete the permissions check.
