Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22563 Brings in Dynamic Widgets and Improvements

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22563 to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. The latest build is available for ARM64 PCs and brings in significant Taskbar improvements for tablet-optimized devices. You will also notice improvements to content in Widgets and a new group policy for IT admins in education. Microsoft also added improvements to File Explorer, support for Microsoft Edge tabs in snap assist, and ALT+TAB and Emoji 14 support.

The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22563 has introduced a new Taskbar state that’s specifically designed to make users more comfortable and confident in using tablet devices. The Taskbar will automatically transition to the optimized version when you disconnect or fold back the keyboard on your convertible device. This feature works only on tablet devices and not on laptops and desktop PCs. The Taskbar status has been divided into collapsed and expanded state.

The Taskbar provides more screen space in the coilapsed state. It prevents you from accidentally invoking the Taskbar when you are holding the tablet. The Taskbar is easy to use with touch in the expanded state.

You can swap between the two states by swiping up and down on the bottom of your device. You can navigate to Settings | Personalization | Taskbar | Taskbar behaviors to verify whether this feature is enabled on your device. You will view a new setting called “Automatically hide the taskbar when using your device as tablet” and will be enabled by default.

Dynamic Widgets Content

The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22563 has made considerable changes in Widgets to bring additional dynamic content to your Widgets board. The Widgets and news feed experiences will be combined as a dynamic blended feed with both Widgets and news content. The intention is to discover and engage with new widgets and new content via the feed. You will be able to pin your favorite Widgets to the top as per the requirements. However, if you have customized your Widgets boards, all the pinned widgets will appear as such and the existing customizations will not be lost. Microsoft has started to push this feature to select Windows Insiders to gather feedback. The dynamic widgets content feature will be available to all Windows Insiders after addressing the feedback.

New Group Policy

The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22563 has introduced a new Group policy for the management of Windows Update notifications. You will be able to deactivate all Windows Update notifications that might distract students during the school days. You should open the Group Policy Editor and navigate to Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Windows Update | Manage end-user experience | Display options for update notifications.

The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22563 has added changes and improvements to Taskbar, File Explorer, Windowing, Input, Start Menu, Search, Settings, Task Manager, Network, Narrator, Widgets, Focus, Live Captions, and much more.
