Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22572 to the Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. The build includes the addition of Microsoft Family and Clipchamp as inbox apps. Microsoft will roll out an update for Search in Windows 11 called search highlights, which highlight interesting moments in time from the world around you and in your organization. The latest build includes several improvements and bug fixes. You can test drive new Microsoft Defender preview available only for English and US respectively. Microsoft also announced March 2022 Bug Bash, which runs from March 16 to March 22. The Bug Bash enables you to provide feedback to the Microsoft product team.
Microsoft Family
The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22572 has integrated Microsoft Family as an inbox app. The family safety functionalities are now available on Windows 11 via the Microsoft Family app. You can configure parental controls to filter inappropriate apps and games including the ability to configure browsing to kid-friendly websites for Microsoft Edge. The kids can balance their screen time activity on Windows, Xbox, and Android. The activity report can be used to understand the digital activity of the family. The Microsoft Family app will serve as an inbox app on the Windows 11 Home edition and can be updated via the Microsoft Store. You should navigate to Settings | Accounts | Family to download the Microsoft Family app from the Microsoft Store.
Clipchamp
Over the last two years, we have seen tremendous growth in video consumption for learning and other purposes. The schools and colleges are going digital. Hence, the need for video material assumes importance since students can learn the concepts quickly. Microsoft has bundled Clipchamp as an inbox app with Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22572.
Clipchamp is a new video editor with special focus on easy, fast, and fun video creation. The Clipchamp video editor includes all the basic tools such as trimming, splitting, transitions, animated text, audio, voice-overs, and much more. The content can be captured via webcam and screen recording functionalities.
The timeline provides more control over media content to provide a refreshing video editing experience. The stock library is filled with more than a million royalty-free videos, audio tracks, and images. You can add them to your videos without any worry of being penalized by YouTube.
The integrated Microsoft Azure-powered text-to-speech generating engine automatically creates voice overs in more than 70 languages. You will not find voice-over module with competing video editors. ClipChamp also connects with Microsoft OneDrive using which you can import files and save videos quickly and securely. You just need to search for ClipChamp on Start menu to begin.
Introducing Search Highlights
Microsoft is gearing up to introduce an update for Search in Windows 11, which highlights interesting moments in time. The search module is placed on the Taskbar using which you can not only search apps, files, settings but also discover new information via the web. The search box in Start and Search periodically update with content including fun illustrations. The search highlights present notable and interesting moments such as holidays, anniversaries, and other educational content.
You will find content in bold format in search home that highlights the special things on each day. YOu will find additional content in search home related to today’s moment and daily content like word of the day, Microsoft rewards offers trending searches, and much more. The left side of the search home displays an extended list of the recently launched apps, files, settings, and websites.
The Search highlights feature the latest updates about your organization and suggested people. You can explore files that may be of interest to you or navigate through the organizations people child. You will have control over the search highlights experience and can be switched on and off by navigating to Settings | Privacy & Security | Search settings and toggling “Show search highlights” option.
The Search highlights will also be visible inside the Windows 10 search box and you will be able to experience the same features. Microsoft will push this feature early next week. However, the company has decided to roll out search highlights to select Windows Insiders to gather feedback. It will take some time for all the Insiders to experience the upcoming feature.
