Microsoft Releases Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22598 to Dev and Beta Windows Insiders

Microsoft has announced the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22598 to the Dev and Beta channel Windows Insiders. The Redmond-based software giant has released ISOs for this build and you can download them from the official website. In addition to changes and improvements, the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22598 also includes several bug fixes to improve the Windows Insiders experience. Microsoft also rolled out new update to Media Player for Windows 11 to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel.

Microsoft is currently offering new builds to Windows Insiders in China on Lenovo PCs starting with Build 22598. The catch is that users should establish connectivity with the Internet for a minimum of 15 minutes to enable the Lenovo PC Manager to auto-update to the latest version 5.0.0.3292 or later to receive an important fix. The Get Started app will auto-launch after upgrade to allow people to learn about the usage of the PC. Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel will be able to try new ideas, longer lead features, and experiences before official release. According to Microsoft, a small batch of Windows Insiders will be able to experience experimental functionalities.

With the introduction of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22598, Windows SPotlight will be the default background for new devices and for those performing clean installation using the ISO. This feature has been pushed to select group of Windows Insiders. Microsoft is also attempting to display 4K desktop backgrounds in Windows Spotlight. The latest build brings in updated tooltip on the volume icon to inform users when they are making use of spatial sound. The device using Windows Information Protection policies can now access controlled data via protected apps such as Outlook, Word, Microsoft Edge, and much more.

The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22598 has resolved an issue where hovers like previews would stay up during all Taskbar interactions if you used keyboard focus on Taskbar. If the Taskbar badges comes back after explorer.exe crashes even if you had deactivated them in Settings, then that problem has been resolved. The issue related to mouse move events has been resolved.

The issue pertaining to system tray not showing previews or tooltips when you hover over some app icons has been resolved. The app icons in the system tray should be displayed more reliably when opened. The update resolved an issue that was delaying or preventing the show hidden icons flyout from opening.

If the Chinese characters were not displaying in the Taskbar calendar when the Lunar calendar was activated, then the issue has been resolved. The More button crash in Start’s recommended section has been resolved. If the Start menu crashed when gesture is invoked, then the issue has been fixed. Microsoft has resolved issues pertaining to File Explorer, Input, Settings, Windowing, Live Captions, Task Manager, WSL, and others. The update also addressed several known issues.
