Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25145 to the Dev Channel Windows Insiders. The build includes updates for Narrator Braille driver support, OneDrive storage alert, and subscription management in Settings and Local Administrator Password Solution. The build also includes several bug fixes, which improve the overall experience for Windows Insiders on their PCs. The update also fixed the issue that causes Surface Pro X devices to throw a black screen while attempting to resume from hibernate.
The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25145 includes updated Narrator Brallie Driver Solution. The Braille device continues to work while switching between Narrator and third-party screen readers since Narrator automatically changes Brallie drivers. The first step is to remove Narrator’s current braille support if already installed on the system. You should navigate to Settings | Apps | Optional features | Installed features. You should locate Accessibility | Brallie support and select Brallie support by expanding Accessibility. You can uninstall the Brallie feature from the dashboard.
The next step is to install new Narrator braille support by navigating to Settings | Accessibility | Narrator | Braille. You should select the more button and download Brallie from the new window by selecting the Download and Install Brallie button. You should return back to Settings | Accessibility | Narrator | Brallie after the installation. The final step is to select the Brallie display driver used by the third-party screen reader from the “Braille display driver” option.
The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25145 brings in OneDrive storage alert and subscription management inside Settings. If you have OneDrive standalone 100GB subscription, you will be able to view the details in the Accounts page within Settings. You will be able to view recurring billing, payment method, and OneDrive storage usage from within Windows 11. You will view a message if you are close or above your OneDrive storage limit.
With the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25145, the legacy local administrator password solution is native part of Windows and ships with several new features. Even though feature documentation is not yet available, several features will be familiar if you had worked with the legacy LAPS product. You can extend the Active Directory scheme by running the Update-LapsADSchema cmdlet in the new LAPS PowerShell module. The update adds the required permissions by running the Set-LapsADComputerSelfPermission cmdlet.
The update has added a new LAPS Group Policy object and enable the “Configure password backup directory” setting and configure it to backup the password to “Active Directory”. The domain-joined client automatically processes the policy at the next GPO refresh interval. Alternatively, you can run gpupdate /target:computer /force to avoid waiting. You can easily keep track of the outcome of all LAPS operations in the event log. The latest update also introduced several changes and improvements related to suggestion actions, file explorer, start menu, Taskbar, Settings, Input, Task Manager, and other related issues.
