Elon Musk-backed Twitter is scheduled to perform mass layoffs globally. According to reports, the company will mass layoffs 3500+ workers in a bid to slash the workforce and also eliminate less productive people. The company will shoot an email at 9AM PST on November 4 indicating the status of the employees. Interestingly, the social media giant has literally shut down offices and temporarily suspended the badges of all employees until the mass layoffs email is delivered and the dust is settled. The management will email all employees regarding their employment status.
Meanwhile, there is a sense of chaos at Twitter offices worldwide ahead of the imminent mass layoffs. Employees have started to report that they are unable to access company emails, Slack, group chats, and VPNs. A tweet by IANS revealed that over 200 strong Twitter India workforce lost access to their official email and other messaging mediums. The official email sent to employees indicates the global workforce but Indian workers who have so far worked as a team is still unable to digest the heartbreaking news.

In an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday. We recognize that this will impact a number of individuals who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but this action is unfortunately necessary to ensure the company’s success moving forward.
Given the nature of our distributed workforce and our desire to inform impacted individuals as quickly as possible, communications for this process will take place via email. By 9AM PST on Friday Nov. 4th, everyone will receive an individual email with the subject line: Your Role at Twitter.

If your employment is not impacted, you will receive a notification via your Twitter email.
