Elon Musk-owned Twitter has reportedly sacked over 50% of employees. This is the first massive layoffs when it comes to Big tech companies. Ever since Musk took over charge of the company, there were talks in the town about imminent layoffs. The company sent emails to all employees and closed all their offices. The access to email and Slack has been cut off and employees were unable to communicate with each other.

There was total chaos and disappointment all over the Twitter India office. However, Yash Agarwal showed his happiness even in this dull moment by holding dual cushions with Twitter logo. He also tweeted that “Just Just got laid off. Bird App, it was an absolute honour, the greatest privilege ever to be a part of this team, this culture – #LoveWhereYouWorked #LoveTwitter.

While one cushion is in Blue color, the cushion on the right side is yellow. The 25-year-old employee also wears Black shirt bearing the official Twitter logo. We can also see snacks placed on the left side of the table.

Yash worked as a Public Policy Associate and his tweet indicates that he indeed loved the team and the culture. The tweet has gone viral with over 3423 retweets and 408 quote tweets. Moreover, Yash’s tweet garnered 46.1 likes within 12 hours.

To recall, Twitter started the mass layoffs process at 9 AM PST on November 4. The new management informed all employees that access to their badges will be suspended until a decision is made regarding layoffs. There was total chaos since employees were denied access to work emails and Slack messaging platform. The reports indicated that over 75% of the workforce will be sacked from the overall 7500+ people worldwide. However, we don’t have an estimate regarding the total layoffs.

Musk defended his decision to sack Twitter employees. He took to Twitter and disclosed that the portal was losing more than $4 million per day. He also added that affected employees are being offered 3 months of full pay as severance package, which is 50% more than legally required. Musk will have to face legal consequences but he will defend by saying that all affected employees are being given 90 days of full salary. The fired employees will not be in a position to approach courts because they will have to find other opportunities. There are unconfirmed reports that India-owned Koo will most likely hire few Ex. Twitter staffers.
