As we rightly predicted long time back, Meta has started to roll out the Meta Verified service using which people can pay for obtaining Blue badge mark. This is just like Twitter Blue where you need to pay to grab Twitter Blue tick along with other features. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg took to Facebook and announced the launch of Meta Verified. The service will be currently available for Facebook and Instagram account holders. We don’t have any information about whether the company will adopt some sort of subscription service for WhatsApp.
The Meta Verified subscription service enables users to verify accounts with a Government ID in return for a Blue badge. Meta claims that users will receive extra impersonation protection against false accounts including direct access to human technical support. With the help of Meta Verified, the authenticity and security across services will be increased.
What is the eligibility of Meta Verified?
Meta has announced that account holders should be 18+ years and need to submit a valid Government ID. The details mentioned on the ID should match the profile name and photo of the Facebook or Instagram account. Moreover, Meta Verified service also includes proactive monitoring to tackle account impersonation. The company is committed to monitoring and reporting violations continuously. The system will be designed to take immediate action against people who try to evade or mask their systems.
Meta Verified Pricing
Talking about the price, Meta verified starts at $11.99 per month on web or $14.99 per month on iOS. The Meta verified service is currently rolling out in Australia and New Zealand to begin with. Meta revealed that the service will be made available globally within the next few months. We expect the rollout of Meta verified in India by the end of April 2023. It could cost INR 750 per month or INR 7000 per year. To recall, Twitter Blue is priced at INR 6500 per year. You will be able to purchase Meta Verified directly via your Facebook and Instagram handles.
Meta disclosed that there will not be any changes to the existing accounts that are already been verified. However, this will be during the testing phase. There is no assurance that the Facebook and Instagram accounts of existing verified users will be free when the services roll out globally.
We understood from Mark’s note that Meta is willing to build a subscription offering that will be valuable to all people including creators, businesses, and other communities. The verified badge enables users to trust the account they interact with.
Twitter was under fire soon after Elon Musk took charge as CEO and after he imposed Twitter Blue services. Many left-liberals quit Twitter in protest against his policies. We have to see the reaction of those faces now because Meta also imposed the same technique as Elon Musk did. We wonder where these liberals will now go.
