Microsoft has rolled out Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25346 to the Canary Channel. Microsoft also released ISOs for this new build. The latest flight has introduced Content Adaptive Brightness Control (CABC) on plugged-in devices that include both laptops and desktop PCs. This feature will either dim or brighten areas of a display or monitor. However, it will be based on the content that is being displayed. The purpose is to strike a balance between reduced power consumption coupled with visual experience to save battery life.
This feature is designed to run on laptops and convertibles that are plugged into a charger. You will not notice any changes but CABC will reduce energy consumption to a large extent. You can manage CABC via Settings | System | Display located under Brightness & color. You have to select one option from three such as Off, Always, and On Battery Only. The default setting is On Battery Only for laptops and convertibles because they borrow power via battery. However, Microsoft recommends Windows Insiders with laptops and convertibles to test drive Always option for the purpose of feedback gathering.
Remote desktop improvements
The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25346 has revamped the remote desktop sessions connection bar to a new light/dark mode design, which aligns with Windows 11 design principles. You will not view the option to quickly email the file while sharing a local file in File Explorer to Outlook contacts. The flight also introduced improvements in loading your contacts from Microsoft Outlook. This capability is not available for files stored in OneDrive folders. The flight has added the relevant option to diagnose network problems while right-clicking on the network icon in the system tray.
Addition of Presence Sensor
The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25346 has added new presence sensor privacy settings and APIs. You will be able to manage privacy including the ability to allow/block certain apps from accessing these sensors if you have a device with compatible presence sensors. Microsoft will not collect any images or metadata. The relevant processing is done locally on the device hardware to maximize privacy. Microsoft has re-introduced the updated Windows Security (firewall) notification dialogs that match with the Windows 11 visuals.
Narrator enhancements
If you make use of the Traditional Chinese characters while working with Narrator, then you can work with confidence now. This has been accomplished by creating a Traditional Chinese dictionary for detail reading. The Narrator detailed reading is only available for the Taiwan and Hong Kong language packs. You can now configure the HDR state easily while running on battery.
That being said, the Canary Channel builds are hot off the presses. Microsoft will only publish content for each flight only if there are new features and improvements. However, you need not have to expect daily builds. You should note that Canary Channel builds will be unstable and could harm your system. You can migrate to Dev Channel only after the complete reinstallation of Windows.
