Microsoft has recently released Surface Thunderbolt 4 Dock, which is exclusively designed to extend support of Thunderbolt 4 connectivity in Surface devices. The devices include Surface Pro 9, Surface Laptop 5, and Surface Laptop Studio. Microsoft Surface Thunderbolt 4 Dock is a USB4/Thunderbolt 4 Dock, which enables maximize workspace. It also delivers ultra-high-speed data transfer and the power to establish connectivity and charge peripherals. According to Microsoft sources, the new accessory is designed to carry forward the company’s continuous commitment to security, sustainability, and accessibility.
Microsoft Surface Thunderbolt 4 Dock establishes connectivity with the devices via USB-C port and works with Surface and other devices with USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 ports respectively. You can easily connect to two 4K monitors at up to 60Hz including the ability to experience 40Gbps data transfer speeds. Moreover, you can charge devices with up to 96W power.
The dock provides connectivity to three USB-C ports, three USB-A ports, a headphone port, a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port, a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port, and a security lock slot. Windows 11 will make sure that configured settings are retained when connectivity is established.
The new Microsoft Surface Thunderbolt 4 Dock not only includes front-facing ports but also versatile rear-facing ports with raised tactile indicators. The dock is designed with recycled materials and is attributed to 20% ocean-bound plastic and lighter materials. Moreover, the dock is free of single-use plastics. You should note that Ocean-bound plastic is plastic waste recovered from oceans and waterways. The recycled pellets are blended in with virgin plastic during the manufacturing process.
Microsoft added that dock improves IT efficiency for commercial customers. The Surface Thunderbolt 4 Dock also includes capabilities such as Firmware Update via Windows Update, Wake on LAN from Modern Standby, and MAC Address Passthrough. Microsoft manages recycling programs via third-party agencies that cover Microsoft Devices. Microsoft announced that SUrface Thunderbolt 4 Dock will be sold along with Surface Dock, Surface Dock 2, and Microsoft USB-C Travel Hub products. Microsoft will arrange free session with Surface experts to help customers to choose their products.
