Microsoft has updated Photos app for Windows 11 with several enhancements for Windows Insiders. The new update includes a revamped slideshow experience, timeline scrollbar, and much more. Microsoft has pushed the update to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels.
Microsoft has addressed the feedback from the community by integrating new Slideshow experience for the Photos app. You will be able to view photos in slideshow format with the help of transitions, animations, and 25 original music soundtracks. You can either select any photo to start the slideshow or choose multiple photos to create a unique slideshow experience.
Microsoft also introduced the timeline scrollbar to the All Photos, OneDrive, and iCloud Photos gallery views. The photos will be grouped by year and month. You can jump to any point in time and locate the photos with the help of the timeline scrollbar. Additionally, the Photos app has been updated with the Spot Fix functionality, which removes blemishes or unwanted areas in the photo.
The Photos app for Windows 11 has also been updated with bug fixes and enhancements. The Auto Enhance is now available for usage without any need to install the 93MB add-on. You can now drag and drop to pick photos you would like to use while importing photos from external devices. The hidden iCloud Photos will no longer display in the gallery.
Microsoft has resolved an issue where audio on video files is muted by default. The app now plays the audio by default. Moreover, the user settings will persist across videos. If you copy and paste a photo from the Photos app into Microsoft Outlook and Teams, the image inline will be inserted by default instead of adding an attachment.
If you hold down the SHIFT key while selecting photos, multiple consecutive photos will be selected. If you hold down the CTRL key, then multiple non-consecutive photos will be selected. You should update Photos app to version number 2023.11050.2013.0 or higher to enjoy the new experiences and features.
