Coconics is expected to launch four new laptop models by the end of July under Make in India initiative. According to P. Rajeev, Minister of Industries, the company is planning to release 4 new laptop models in July. He was speaking to media after his visit to the factory in Manvila, Thiruvananthapuram. He also added that two laptops will be Keltron branded. Coconics is an ambitious project of Kerala Government with the company selling 12500+ laptops since its inception in 2019. The company released 7 laptop models previously but the device was plagued with problems.
Coconics revealed that their laptops have earned BAS certificates. Rajeev added that the company is aiming to sell 2 lakh laptops and the product team is working to achieve this mission. The Kerala Government has modified the stocks of Coconics to convert the company into a deemed public sector undertaking. While Keltron holds a 51% share, UST Global has dropped 47% share. The remaining 2% will go to a startup company. He inspected the various divisions where assembling work was being carried out.
Rajeev also added the new Coconics laptop will be made available via Amazon, Flipkart, and Snapdeal as well. The company is also providing a Coconics-branded laptop bag along with devices. The products are priced below INR 16000, which is affordable for students and senior citizens. The Coconics laptops will be a big hit if the company focuses on quality control and addresses the problems associated with the previous models. We don’t know whether the company will release new laptops with Windows 11.
