Microsoft has announced the launch of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.2191 and 22631.2191 to the Beta Channel. While new features are rolling out in Build 22631.2191, the new features are switched off by default in Build 22621.2191. The Build 22631.2191 has added support for HDR Background. You will be able to configure JXR files as desktop background. The relevant background will render in full HDR if you have an HDR display.
You can check whether your device supports HDR by navigating to Settings | System | Display and checking the HDR toggle. The next step is to download an HDR .JXR file to your device. You should right-click on your desktop, choose Personalize | Background, and then select “Personalize your background”. You can select the .JXR file to your device.
Microsocft has provided sample .JXR files to enable you to experience this feature. The background will display as HDR or SDR depending on the capability of the display if you have multiple displays attached to your device. Microsoft has recommended users to run theHDRCalibration app for enhanced picture quality while using external displays attached to the device.
Microsoft has added Narrator Natural Voices in French, Portuguese, English (India), German, and Korea using which Narrator users will be able to navigate the web. The voices make use of modern and on-device text to speech capabilities. You can work with the voices even without an active Internet connection. Microsoft has added the below-mentioned Narrator Natural Voices.
French: Microsoft Denise (Female) and Microsoft Henri (Male)
Portuguese: Microsoft Francisca (Female) and Microsoft Antonio (Male)
English (India): Microsoft Neerja (Female) and Microsoft Prabhat (Male)
German: Microsoft Katja (Female) and Microsoft Conrad (Male)
Korean: Microsoft SunHi (Female) and Microsoft InJoon (Male)
The new voice will be downloaded immediately depending on the speed of your Internet. You can select the preferred voice from the Narrator’s voice | Choose a voice drop-down menu.
You can participate in the Windows 365 Switch public preview if you are a Windows Insider in the Dev and Beta Channels. With the help of Windows 365 Switch, you can easily move between a Windows 2265 Cloud PC and the local desktop. This is achieved with the help of familiar keyboard commands, mouse clicks, and swipe gestures via Task View on the Windows 11 Taskbar.
Microsoft has removed the never combined mode for the Taskbar that was placed under Settings | Personalization | Taskbar | Taskbar behaviors. The update has added Share to the context menu in File Explorer including additional fields to display in the Details panel. This includes image dimensions for pictures, number of pages for .DOCX, total space occupied, and much more. If Windows Spotlight is enabled after activation of Windows 11 background or a solid color, you can deactivate it.
The Build 22631.2191 has resolved an issue that caused File Explorer to crash when navigating to Home. The update resolved a memory leak in File Explorer that caused explorer.exe to crash upon extended usage. The update fixed an issue where favorite files will not work after refreshing Home. If the tooltip gets stuck on the screen when your scrolled Home with touch, then the issue has been resolved.
If the expansion and collapse of Home is not working then the issue has been resolved. If the image in the Details pane gets blurry after resizing the File Explorer window, then the issue has been resolved. If the details panel design was displaying from left to right while making use of Hebrew or Arabic languages, then the issue has been resolved.
Microsoft revealed that Windows Insiders who were previously on Build 22624 will automatically moved to Build 22631 via an enablement package. The enablement package artificially increments the build number for the update with new features. This mechanism is used for the beta Channel only and is not indicative of any changes for final feature rollouts.
