Google Photos has unveiled the new scrapbook-like Memories View, which is automatically curated and organized by leveraging AI. According to search engine giant, you will be able to relive, customize and share memorable moments with the help of the Memories view. The new Memories view has started to roll out in the US and will be available globally within the next few months.
There is an updated navigation menu located at the bottom of the Photos app. The AI module is designed to do the bulk of the work. The company added that users will have control over memories. You can either choose to save favorite memories to your Memories view or create your own from scratch. With the help of Memories View, you will be able to add or remove specific photos and videos including the ability to display and hide memories.
You will be able to rename your memories to a recognizable name. This could reflect the moment in question. Google will also create customized title suggestions created with Generative AI. You just need to select the button captioned “Help me title” on select memories. You can always edit the suggested titles or request additional options. The company is willing to incorporate more features based on the feedback. This feature will be made available to select accounts in the US.
Additionally, you can also co-author your memories with other people based on meaningful moments. You can invite your family and friends to collaborate on a memory. They can also contribute photos and videos to fill the lost gaps. Sometimes, you will forget to upload a picture but your former colleague will have a copy that they can upload. Going forward, Google will also provide the ability to share memories as videos so that you can share them via social media.
The new Memories View functionality included with Google Photos will be available in the US initially followed by a global rollout. It looks like this feature will be available across India by the end of this year. The product team would like to fine-tune certain elements based on the feedback before throwing open to the global community.
