Microsoft has released new updates for the Snipping Tool for both Canary and Dev Channel Windows Insiders. The main purpose of the new features is to improve the overall capture experience on Windows 11. Microsoft also rolled out a Phone Link update to all Windows Insiders. It introduces notification prompting to open capture in the Snipping Tool for markup.
The Windows 11 Snipping Tool has introduced Text Actions. You will be able to copy text from any image to either share with others or paste into another app. The Snipping Tool automatically detects text in your captured screenshots. The first step is to select the Text Actions button in the Toolbar, which displays selectable text before selecting and copying content. You can also make use of the Copy all text button in the toolbar or use CTRL+A and CTRL+C to select and copy all text using your keyboard.
You can also redact sensitive information in screenshots before sharing. You can hide emails and phone numbers by selecting Quick Redact from the Toolbar. You can also select any text and click on the Redact Text menu option from the pop-up menu.
Microsoft also started to roll out a new feature for Phone Link. You will be able to sneak into and edit your most recent photos from your Android mobile device in Snipping Tool. You will receive instant notifications on your PC when a new photo is captured on your Android device. However, both devices should be connected via Phone Link.
