Microsoft has released updates to Snipping Tool and Notepad to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels. The new updates are available for Snipping Tool and Notepad on Windows 11. You will be able to add shapes to screenshots in Snipping Tool. You will be able to add rectangles, ovals, lines, and arrows to mark up your screenshots.
The first step is to select the new shapes button in the Toolbar. You should select the desired shape and then click/drag anywhere on the active screenshot to draw a new shape. You can easily resize, move, or change your shape color. The shape merges with the image after the shape is deselected. However, you will be able to remove shapes with the eraser tool including undoing the annotations.
Microsoft also updated Notepad by adding the Copilot module. The Explain with Copilot functionality helps you to gather information about log files and code segments.

You just need to select the content, right-click, and select Explain with Copilot item from the pop-up menu. Alternatively, you can also make use of Ctrl+E keyboard shortcut to gather data via the Copilot.
This feature will be available on devices with Copilot in Windows. However, there is an issue that you will not be able to experience this feature immediately after updating Notepad via Microsoft Store. The feature will be made available in a phased manner.
