Microsoft Starts Rolling Out Paint Update to Windows Insiders

Microsoft has started to push updates to Paint to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels on Windows 11. The update has improved the brush size selection experience with a new size slider for pencil, brushes, and eraser tools. You can pick from a wide range of size options via the new size slider.

You can also preview the selected size on the canvas as you drag the slider. Microsoft has started to roll out the new size slider in a phased manner and hence this feature will not be available immediately. The company intends to monitor the feedback before pushing to global audience.

Microsoft also improved layers by adding a new background option to the Layers panel. YOu will be able to set the Background color for the canvas. You can try this functionality by opening the Layers panel and selecting the Background tile located at the bottom.

Alternatively, you can also make use of Ctrl + Shift + B keyboard shortcut. The color picker dialog will open where you can configure any color as the background. The Hide Background option can also be used to make the background completely transparent. You can also employ Ctrl + Shift +H to quickly show/hide the background.

Microsoft Paint also introduces new way to copy with Copy visible layers option. This will faciliate users to copy all visible content across layers. You should select an area using the selection tool and invoke the context menu. You can also use the Ctrl + Shift + C keyboard shortcut combination.
