Microsoft has improved Windows Search on Copilot+ PCs with the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.2992 to the Dev Channel. The update has rolled out improved Windows Search and is available for Snapdragon-enabled Copilot+ PCs. This flight has introduced semantic indexing in addition to traditional indexing, which enables you to locate content easily on Copilot+ PCs. You need not have to remember file names including exact words in file content or settings names.
An interesting point to note is that the new search improvements will work even if you are not connected to the internet because of 40+ TOPS NPU. The new Windows Search will work only for files saved locally in indexed locations on your PC. Microsoft is planning to support document and photos that are stored in cloud storage spaces in an upcoming flight.
The newly introduced Windows Search experiences are being rolled out to Windows Insiders on Snapdragon-enabled Copilot+ PCs. As of this writing, the search features are available in select languages such as French, Chinese, German, English, Japanese, and Spanish. You can experience the latest Windows Search features in select languages.
Microsoft has introduced new text action named Refine for Click to Do on Copilot+ PCs. You can test this functionality by pressing Win + Click directly on a block of text. You can also press Win + Q and locate the text you would like to proofread and refine. This flight had added a New Folder option in the context menu when right clicking locations in the navigation pane.
A new keyboard shortcut CTRL+ALT+Minus has been added to enable Magnifier users to quickly toggle between the current zoom and 1X zoom. The flight has added buttons in Magnifier to reset zoom to fit to screen and reset zoom to your last preferred magnification.
