Microsoft announced several updates to the Copilot during the sidelines of Microsoft’s 50th anniversary Copilot event. The company conduced an exclusive Copilot event to reveal the roadmap for the upcoming months. The purpose of the upcoming updates is to make Copilot more functional, personalized and available across several platforms.
With the help of Copilot Vision, you can point your phone’s camera at various objects and ask queries virtually. A Microsoft employee demonstrated the working of the Copilot Vision by pointing her phone at a camera. She asked Copilot to reveal the details about the camera and the Ai chatbot responded with a comprehensive reply.
The Copilot even helped her to adjust the aperture and even locating the proper ring on the camera’s lens. Moreover, Copilot was also able to identify a reproduction of Degas’ “Little Dancer” sculpture. The Copilot functionality has been extended on the desktop PC as well. You can now use Copilot with any app on your Copilot PC and not just Live Captions and Cocreator in Paint.
Microsoft Copilot has been upgraded with Shopping capabilities. You can now point your phone’s camera at an object and ask Copilot as to where to purchase that item. You can also Copilot to add all the ingredients of a particular recipe to the shopping list on Instacart.
Microsoft also announced the introduction of Deep research, which will serve as your personal Wikipedia. This functionality is available in Google Gemini 2.0 and ChatGPT. You just need to provide a topic with the required parameters. The Copilot will scan through thousands of documents and images. The final output will be in the form of a complete report with citations. Moreover, the Copilot will also generate a 5 minute podcast upon providing a topic.
The upcoming features will make Microsoft’s AI more capable and it will most likely compete with rivals such as Google Gemini and Grok. Bill Gates also addressed the Microsoft’s 50th anniversary Copilot event gathering, Microsoft has changed a lot over the several years. The emergence of AI will take the company forward to another 50 years from now. Bill also humorously revealed about the existence of Windows after 50 years.
