If rumors are to be believed, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8 smartphone will most likely ship with a LG manufactured battery. Based on available reports, Samsung is gearing up to source batteries from LG Chem, which is the exclusive battery arm of LG.
There are reports that all smartphones beyond Galaxy Note 8 handset will most likely ship with the LG brand battery. You should accept these facts only with a pinch of salt since there is no confirmation about the above development. If the rumors turns out to be true, the Galaxy Note 8 will be the first Samsung handset to ship with a battery manufactured by LG.
Currently, the batteries are supplied to Samsung by Samsung SDI and China’s ATL. LG will be the third company to supply batteries to Smartphone giant.
We believe that Samsung’s decision to source batteries from LG comes in the wake of series of explosions to Samsung Galaxy Note 7. This incident has caused panic among customers forcing the company to recall the phone.
The company quickly replaced the Galaxy Note 7 with new units. Unfortunately, the replaced units also caused fire raising the red signal to the peak. With several airline companies banning the phone from usage inside flights, Samsung was forced to stop production and suspend its usage.
Currently, Samsung is forcefully stopping the usage of Galaxy Note 7 by banning it using IMEI numbers. Samsung also released an OTA update, which restricts the battery charging capacity to 60 percent.
We expect the batteries sourced from LG will be safe. However, it is difficult for the company to regain trust among customers.
