Apple rumored to integrate single-cell L-shaped battery with iPhone 9

Apple will make use of a single-cell L-shaped battery in the upcoming iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 Plus smartphones. According to reports, the Cupertino-based tech company is reportedly gearing up to integrate single-cell L-shaped battery with enhanced capacity.

There are reports that the iPhone manufacturer has entered into a partnership with LG Chem to design and manufacture the single-cell L-shaped battery. The company is the subsidiary of the LG and is well known for the battery manufacturing.

According to a report published on The Investor, the forthcoming L-shaped battery will have improved capacity when compared with the two-cell L-shaped battery included with the premium iPhone X. You can expect slightly larger battery in both standard and Plus variants of the iPhone 8 in a slim profile. The main intention of the single-cell battery is to reduce the thickness of the device without compromising the performance.

The overall capacity of the iPhone X is 2716mAh. Hence, you can expect 3000mAh single-cell battery with the iPhone 8 Plus. The standard iPhone 8 will most likely ship with a 2800mAh battery. The enhanced battery will work in tandem with the new A-series processor. Hence, you can expect iPhone 9 to deliver more power when compared with the iPhone X, which is really interesting.

Even though Apple released iPhone 8 series recently, the overall sales have diminished due to huge pricing. We also reported that the iOS-creator will most likely abandon the production of the iPhone X by the end of Q2 2018. The sales will continue but the production will stop. The main reason for the halting of the iPhone X production is attributed to the lack of interest among consumers.

According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company will launch three variants of iPhone models. The iPhone 9 Plus will ship with an OLED display and the size will be 6-inch. When it comes to the standard model, te display size will be 5.9-inch. Apple is also planning to release iPhone X Plus with a 6.5-inch OLED display.

In addition to a bezel-less display, the upcoming iPhone 9 will offer Facial recognition capabilities with enhanced storage. We are not expecting any big changes to the ecosystem but the software inside the devices will refresh to iOS 12.
