Microsoft Pushes Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25217 with Chat Improvements

Microsoft has announced the launch of Windows 11 Insider Build 25217 to the Windows Insiders Dev Channel. As a developer, you can build and test third-party widgets on the latest Windows Insider Preview builds in the Dev Channel and the WinAppSDK 1.2 preview 2 release. Microsoft has integrated a sneak peek of a new video calling experience for Chat on Windows 11 including input-related changes and bug fixes. The build includes a Microsoft Store update, which includes several improvements including highlight games included with Game Pass.

Microsoft has added support for 3rd party widgets as part of the WinAppSDK 1.2 preview 2 release. The product team has been working hard to expand the Widgets board with additional features and capabilities. The third-party widgets platform included with this release enable developers to create widgets for the packaged Win32 apps. Moreover, the apps can be tested locally on the Windows 11 Widgets board. You should be running the latest Windows Insider Preview Build to work with this feature. Microsoft is also planning to provide support for 3rd party PWA Widgets as part of an upcoming Microsoft Edge release.

The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25217 has added an improved and integrated Cloud/Search suggestion in Simplified Chinese IME. You can easily type fresh, hot, and popular words in Simplified Chinese. The cloud suggestion adds the most relevant word from Bing to the IME candidate window. The backend logic has been update to provide fresh suggestions. Meanwhile, the integrated search suggestion provides additional suggestions that are identical to Bing search page. The relevant suggestion can either be inserted as text or perform search directly from within Bing. You can activate these features by selecting Turn on button and selecting the chevron button located at the right end of the IME candidate window.

The interesting point to note is that Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25217 has rolled out the new Tamil Anjal keyboard for the Tamil language for all Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. You should make sure that Tamil (Singapore), Tamil (Malaysia), Tamil (Sri Lanka), or Tamil (India) is listed under Settings | Time & Language | Language & Region. You should then select the … located adjacent to the language, select Language Options, and add Tamil Anjal (QWERTY) to the available list of keyboards. Microsoft has disabled the touch keyboard that was initially rolled out to Windows Insiders in Build 25188 because of further refinement.

The latest update includes Tablet-friendly Taskbar. Microsoft has resolved an issue that causes the Taskbar to collapse upon expansion. If explorer.exe crashes while switching apps or upon overflow flyout, then the issue has been resolved. The issues related to close button for window preview thumbnails, windows switching and Miracast video quality have been resolved.

The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25217 has added a new video calling experience for Chat from Microsoft Teams in Windows 11. The purpose of video calling is to provide an intuitive and streamlined video calling experience globally. You will view a preview of your own video when you open Chat from the Taskbar. You can also share a call link via SMS or email. This new feature will be made available only for a small subset of Windows Insiders followed by a global rollout.

The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25217 has also pushed a Microsoft Store update version 22209 with improvements. You will know when the games will be made available with Game Pass along with the current available price while locating games inside the Store. The button design has been updated and a new section can be added on the detail page of the game. The library experience with simplified options has been enhanced.
