Microsoft has released an update to Windows Subsystem for Android on Windows 11 to all Windows Insider channels. However, the update will be available only for Windows Insiders based in the US and Japan only. This is because Windows Subsystem for Android is made available only for Windows Insiders in US and Japan.
While the system was pushed to US-based Windows Insiders in 2021, the Redmond-based software giant rolled out for Windows Insiders in Japan in August 2022. The latest Windows Subsystem for Android update version 2207.40000.8.0 will improve general input issues, networking, windowing, security, and reliability in addition to several updates to the Windows Subsystem for Android Settings app.
The Windows Subsystem for Android on Windows 11 August 2022 update includes new compatibility shim to enable apps to maintain aspect ratio but still support resize. Microsoft also pushed accessibility improvements in addition to fixing problems with restarting apps. The apps that update toast notifications instead of making use of progress toasts have better behavior.
Microsoft has enabled Game controls user education dialog for apps with compatibility shims. The latest update also added VPN improvements including fixing scrollbar for Android Windows Subsystem Settings compatibility page. The custom Android toasts now render correctly and the update brings in Android security update and improved reliability.
