Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be launched in India at an event to be held in New Delhi at 12.30PM. Even though the company has invited media outlets, the launch will be live streamed on the official Samsung website - samsung.com/in. Launched in New York in August 2017, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is the first smartphone from the company to ship with a dual rear camera.
Touted as a successor to the ill-fated Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the upcoming Note 8 will ship with a bezel-less Infinity display coupled with an S Pen stylus. Moreover, the handset will be dust and water resistant via IP68 technology and can tolerate up to 1.5m of water for 30 minutes.
Display
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will feature a 6.3-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 521PPI. The display is bigger than the Galaxy S8 series and will be useful for reading e-books and navigating apps.
Performance
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be available in both Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 processor. The product packages shipped to India will carry Exynos 8895 chipset running at a clock speed of 2.3GHz and 1.7GHz under four cores respectively. The phone will bear 6GB LPDDR4 RAM alongside 64GB/128GB and 256GB of expandable internal storage capacities. The Note 8 is a real deal breaker because you will be able to extend the storage, which is not possible with competitors such as iPhone 7 and Google Pixel 2.
Camera
The rear camera included with Samsung Galaxy Note 8 ships with a 12MP sensor with a wide-angle lens with f/1.7 aperture and another 12MP sensor with a telephoto lens paired with a f/2.4 aperture. While the primary lens will provide support for dual pixel autofocus, the secondary lens includes autofocus support. Moreover, the camera has been integrated with 2x optical zoom including the capability to shoot depth of field effects like Bokeh. On the front, the Galaxy Note 8 will have an 8MP sensor with a f/1.7 aperture and autofocus.
Battery
Powered by a 3300mAh battery, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 includes wireless charging support. The battery will be capable of delivering a backup of more than three days upon normal usage.
Operating platform
The dual-SIM enabled Galaxy Note 8 will be preloaded with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, which helps you to work with all the latest features such as split-screen, improved notification and enhanced Doze mode. The company will also push an update to Android 8.0 Oreo before the end of December 2017.
Connectivity
In addition to 4G VoLTE, the Galaxy Note 8 is infused with support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, A-GPS including US Type-C fast charging technology. Moreover, the handset also comes with support for all standard sensors such as an accelerometer, ambient light, barometers, gyroscope, heart rate, proximity, and digital compass.
Features
The highlight of the Note 8 is the addition of an Iris scanner, which helps you to unlock the phone with eyes. Furthermore, the phone also includes a fingerprint sensor on the rear and provides an ability to unlock the phone using facial recognition technology.
Price
Talking about the price, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be available for Rs. 60000. We don’t have any confirmation but will know the exact pricing after the official launch. The handset will be available exclusively via Amazon India. We will continue to keep track of the developments and provide you with updates. Stay tuned.
