Samsung has reportedly established a strategic deal with Apple to manufacture Apple A12 chipsets for the iPhone 2018 with the Korea Herald confirming the development. According to unconfirmed sources, the chances of Samsung producing the upcoming Apple A12 chipsets have gathered momentum with a top Samsung executive visited the Apple headquarters located in Cupertino, California.
Recently, Samsung announced that the company is planning to purchase specialized advanced machines in a bid to manufacture seven-nanometer processors for the iPhone 2018. There are reports that Samsung will manufacture OLED displays for the premium version of the iPhone 8.
With just two months left for the launch of the iPhone, Samsung really needs to speed up the production to ensure adequate stocks before the launch. Apple is planning to release standard version and premium edition of iPhone 8. The standard version will have LED IPS display. However, in the premium version, you will be able to experience the OLED display and will be more than 5.5-inch size.
With 95 percent market share, Samsung is touted to be the world leader in the OLED display panels. Based on the reports, Samsung will supply OLED panels for Apple. That said, TSMC will also play a major role in the supply of chipsets for the iPhone 2018.
To recall, Samsung had manufactured chipsets for iPhone until 2013. However, Apple entered into a deal with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and gave exclusive production rights. Moreover, Apple had sued Samsung for alleged patent infringement in 2011.
