Microsoft has entered into a strategic partnership with iFixit to provide Authorized Surface Device Repairs. The Redmond-based tech giant announced that the replacement components for Microsoft Surface devices will now be available directly from iFixit. The company revealed that the Surface devices can be repaired and the collaboration with iFixit is a step in the right direction.
iFixit will provide the entire package of repairable components to technically inclined consumers and out-of-warranty customers. They will be able to purchase replacement components along with all the required tools. They will be able to consult official Surface repair guides including access to common repair questions and videos under a single umbrella.
Commenting on the development, iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens disclosed that Microsoft has demonstrated deep commitment to enhance repairability via unique product design. The partnership is a significant step forward in repairability. As a valuable support partner, iFixit will provide official parts, repair kits, video guides and much more via the Microsoft Repair Hub.
