Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.1252 Brings in New Features

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.1252 to the Dev Channel. The update allows Windows Insiders to preview enhancements to servicing technology on Windows 11 version 24H2. If you are a Windows Insider in the Dev Channel, you will receive updates based on Windows 11 version 24H2 via an enablement package.

You should activate the toggle by navigating to Settings > Windows Update to receive the latest updates as and when they are rolled out. Microsoft will gradually roll out new features to those Windows Insiders who have turned on the toggle. The new features, improvements, and bug fixes will be available in a phased manner to all Insiders who have opted to receive the latest updates.

Explore Pinned Apps

After installing the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.1252, you can pin apps from the Start menu to the Taskbar. This can be done by dragging and dropping the items directly to the Taskbar from the pinned section in the Start menu. You can now drag and drop files between breadcrumbs in the File Explorer Address Bar.

Know Weather and Traffic Density Easily

The Weather and more have been added to the lock screen, which provides finance, traffic, and sports-related information to the lock screen. Microsoft has improved the card design with acrylic blur, card size, spacing, and font optimizations. You can activate this feature by navigating to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen. The Taskbar icons will be more clear and improvements have been made to the Widgets button on the Taskbar. The product team will also roll out animated icons as well.

Bug Fixes

The Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.1252 has resolved an issue related to explorer.exe crash while navigating away from Home. If pinyin is unexpectedly displayed twice in the list of available input methods via Windows Setup (OOBE), the issue has been resolved. The issue pertaining to audio volume in Volume Mixer have been resolved.

The error message KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE thrown after the installation of the recent builds has been resolved. The flight has resolved an issue related to cyclical input crash, Input Method Editor and Voice Typing. The flashing Taskbar and System Tray app icons can be easily viewed. If Settings > System > Power & Battery shows duplicate text, then the issue has been fixed. This update introduces Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profiles for certain mobile operators.

If you are a Windows Insider running Windows 11, version 24H2 Build 26100.xxxx, you will view “(repair version)” in the watermark. Microsoft stated that that is normal with new features being rolled out to your device.
