OnePlus 3T most likely to adopt Make In India strategy by Q1 2017

OnePlus is gearing up to adopt Make in India initiative by manufacturing the recently launched OnePlus 3T model from within the country. According to reports, the process for setting up a production facility will happen early next year.

According to Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India the company is on the track to manufacture Amazon exclusive OnePlus 27 handset starting Q1 2017.

Agarwal added that the company could not supply adequate supplies of the handset. Hence, they faced 30% decline in the sales due to non-availability of stocks. In a telephonic conversation with Reuters, Agarwal said he was referring to the statistics of the OnePlus 3T and a previously released model.

He added that the current focus is to meet the growing demand. Moreover, the response received from India is far from expectations. He declined to comment as to which manufacturing partner the company will tie-up. There are reports that OnePlus is in touch with multiple partners, which includes Foxconn.

Meanwhile, OnePlus disclosed hat they have no plan to sell the smartphones through retail outlets. OnePlus will continue to sell their smartphones on Amazon.

The company is planning to open experience centre in India’s Silicon Valley Bengaluru. If you visit the stores, you will be able to view, touch and experience OnePlus smartphones.

Agarwal also said that OnePlus will also add 6 additional service centers in addition to the currently available seven. Apparently, the company provide service centers through 60 third-party retail outlets.

As part of Flipkart Big Shopping Days, OnePlus 3 will be available for Rs. 18999 even though the handset is Amazon exclusive. OnePlus founder Carl Pie tweeted to Sachin Bansal by stating that how you are selling Amazon exclusive product on the India’s home-grown e-commerce platform.
