Apple has launched the next-generation Pencil with USB-C port. Apple Pencil will be available in India from November. The pricing is bit on the higher side at Rs 7990. The package will ship with USB Type-C connector for iPads. According to company sources, the newly launched Pencil is compatible with all iPad models with a USB Type-C port. This includes the iPad 10th generation, iPad Mini 6th generation, iPad Air 4th generation, and iPad Pro 3rd generation in addition to all variants of the 11-inch iPad Pro.
Apple Pencil includes a magnet side to enable you to attach the iPads for storage. However, it doesn’t provide support for wireless pairing and charging. You should establish connectivity using a USB-C cable for charging and pairing. The Pencil automatically slips into sleep mode when you attach to the iPad. This is to preserve the battery.
The newly launched USB-C-enabled Apple Pencil provides support for precision touch, low latency input, and tilt sensitivity. The Pencil also offers support for hover functionality on the iPad Pro. The disappointing point to note is that the Apple Pencil does not provide support for pressure sensitivity, wireless pairing, and charging, and double-tap to change tools functionality.
The USB-C-enabled Apple Pencil is priced at Rs 7900 for ordinary users. However, if you are involved in education, then should only pay Rs 6900. You will be able to purchase Apple Stylus starting in early November at Apple India online store and Apple retail stores.
