Microsoft has announced the availability of the Windows 11 2023 update also called Windows 11 version 23H2. Microsoft is providing a limited scope of new features and functionality that are delivered via a familiar, test, and reliable update experience. The company has adopted servicing technology to deliver the recent Windows features in an optimized way. With the help of Windows, you will be able to connect, learn, play, and work with the latest operating system.
You should note that the Windows 11 2023 update aka version 23H2 is a scoped cumulative release. This means the update includes all the recently announced features and improvements. A notable change is that the Chat is now renamed as Microsoft Teams, which is pinned to the Taskbar by default. You will discover a mini communications experience when you click to launch Microsoft Teams.
Windows 11 2003 update features
You will be able to chat, call, meet, and create a space for community groups to organize and share ideas. Microsoft also made changes to the way you manage your applications. The Windows 11 system components will display a system label under All apps on the Start menu. Previously, the page for managing the system components are listed in Settings | Apps | Installed Apps.
Usage of Servicing Technology
The Windows 11 version 23H2 shares the same code base and servicing branch as version 22H2. This feature update will be delivered using servicing technology, which provides a fast and unique installation experience. You can opt to receive new improvements as and when they are made available by navigating to Settings | Windows Update and activating “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” option. You should then select “Check for updates” option. Your system will be put on safeguard hold if there are any application incompatibility issues. You will not receive updates until the issues are resolved. The auto-updation rollout process will be rolled out in the coming months.
Windows 11 2023 Update: Support Reset
Windows 11 version 23H2 is currently available via Windows Server Update Services, Windows Update for Business, and the Volume Licensing Service Center. Microsoft urges commercial organizations and enterprise companies to start targeted deployments to validate apps, devices, and infrastructure. The new version also resets the 24 months of support for Home and Pro editions including 36 months of support for Enterprise and Education editions. The features that are disabled by default in version 22H2 will be shipped with version 23H2, which includes Copilot in Windows.
Microsoft recommends people to update their devices to the latest version of Windows 11. This is because users will be able to test drive the latest features in addition to security improvements and control. The Windows 11 version 23H2 is available to all Windows users without any charge. The eligible devices running on Windows 11 version 21H1 require a full operating system swap to update to Windows 11 version 23H2. The Copilot in Windows will be available in North America and parts of Asia and South America. Microsoft will continue to add new markets and regions over time.
The Copilot in Windows with Bing Chat Enterprise requires Windows 11. The user should be licensed for Microsoft 365 Business Standard, Business Premium, Enterprise E3 or E5, A3 or A5 for faculty including a standalone license and Entra ID.
